We had a great time!!!!
We just recently celebrated our 20th Annual Avon Community Heritage Festival on September 29, 2018. The ACHF Board works with the community to bring people of all ages and diversity together to celebrate Avon. In case you missed the festivities, the parade started at Kingsway Christian Church and the festival began at Washington Township Park from 11 am to 4 pm. There were performances from the Avon Gold Dance Team, Avon Aerial Orioles, Avon HS Choir and The Biz with Michael Jackson's "Thriller"! There were exotic animals from HedgeHog Hannah and wonderful talent from the community during the Talent Show. The Grand Prize winner for the Children's Category (16 and below) was Newer Edition and the runner up was Grant Drueff. The Grand Prize winner for the Adult's Category (17 and above) was Emmie Wright and the runner ups Trilby Berry-Tayman and Sarah Bender. We are thankful for all of the contestants and special thanks to our celebrity judges; Nina Criscuolo, Susie Harloff, and Wil Pfaffenberger.
There was a variety of food to eat and so much for the whole family to do! The Washington Township/Avon Fire Department gave tours of their fire trucks and taught fire training safety in a fun way, we had inflatables from Premiere Inflatables for the kiddos' bouncing pleasure, pony rides by Running E Ranch and lots of fun games and prizes from the local business, craft and non-profit vendors. The Dog Adoption area was the place to be to find cute puppies and lovable dogs!!
We also had something new this year! We enjoyed the "After Dark" festival from 6 pm to 9 pm at the lower level by the Pavillion Center. We took a moment to thank our founding members before we enjoyed the Buzz Bin concert and their renditions of the 90's hits on the lawn by the beautiful fountain. To compliment the mood, there was a Beer and Wine Garden for the sophisticated crowd and the night ended with spectacular fireworks!!
Each year, the Avon Community Heritage Festival is a success with the help of sponsors and volunteers. Check here to see who our Special Partners of the festival are. We are especially thankful for our major sponsors; Town of Avon, Washington Township Parks and Recreation and Hendricks Regional Health.
All ACHF volunteers and sponsors are people and businesses in our community that are helping us with our mission; bringing the community together. It's good to take time to enjoy one another!! We hope you'll join us for the Tree Lighting on Dec 1, 2018!!
